The Organic Skincare Company – Review

I’ve recently been gifted a few items by The Organic Skincare Company (with no obligation to review). Well I’ve been so impressed with everything they’ve sent me that I thought I should write up a review of the products and let you know more about them.

About the Brand

The first thing I wanted to mention is that they are a very eco-friendly brand. All their products are cruelty free, and vegan which has become more and more important to me in recent years (and many others who use beauty products are considering thing before purchasing items nowadays). I’m also very happy to find out that with each purchase of their products, they work with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a tree and help undo the damage of deforestation around the world.

They also use supercritical extraction to ensure that the plant extracts they use in their products are of super high quality and goodness (you can find out more here) and they are BioGro accredited. I was very impressed to get my parcel from them in a bio-degradable wrapper that can go in the food waste bin!

The Makeup

One of the items I’ve been sent is a beautiful palette that you can customise – with pretty much anything! Lip and cheek tints, concealers, highlighters, powders, cream and powder eye shadows can all be mixed and added to your own personalise palette. And there are 3 colours to choose from for the actual palette too!

This is a great feature that gives you complete control over what you’re buying, resulting in less waste and more makeup that’s suited to your needs. I’ve got 2 cream shadows and 2 powder eye shadows, and I have to say that the colours on both are super pigmented. They are blendable and smooth, the creams are especially buttery. I found them to have slightly better lasting power than other shadows I use which was a great bonus! The only thing I can see as a downside to this is the shade options – there aren’t that many.

I’ve also been sent a pot of the Cheeky Lips which is a lip and cheek tint. I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time but just never got around to buying one. It’s a gorgeous creamy texture and again, well pigmented. I find a little goes a long way especially on cheeks! I tested this out by wearing it to work to see how it wears during a busy day. It had a slightly dewy look to it which I really liked, and I found it lasted for about 6-7 hours. I think it would have much better lasting power on drier skin, my oily skin has a habit of destroying any makeup I put on my face after about 6 hours. These have 7 shade options and they all look great to me! Probably my favourite makeup product I’ve tried from this brand so far.

The Skincare

This is where I got very excited: the skincare products I was sent. The first is the Daily Rituals Moisturising cream with Orange and Rosehip. I already use a rosehip seed oil at night so I was intrigued to see how this would work in a daily moisturiser. The cream itself has a slightly fruity scent (I can smell mostly oranges) and it is a very bright yellow colour. The texture is more runny than most creams but I found this to be great for oily skin as it doesn’t feel too thick yet absorbs really well.

It is suitable for day and night use, and I have been using it twice a day. It definitely does hydrate well and isn’t sticky (nothing I hate more than being left with a sticky face after moisturising). Alongside hydrating and moisturising, it also contain seabuckthorn and pomegranate extracts which are high in antioxidants and help fight inflammation and irritation. I don’t normally get this so it’s difficult to say if it works for irritation or not, but it does have quite a refreshing feel to it which I can imagine would help, especially if kept in the fridge.

The second product I was sent was The Good Oil and wow – never has a product been so aptly named before. I’m a huge fan of facial oils and have tried many so far (some cheap, some very expensive). This has completely blown me away and become my absolute favourite in one night!

I used it in the evening after using the moisturising cream and I don’t think anything I write will do it justice – it is INCREDIBLE. I woke up with super soft skin, very smooth and even, and my oily forehead wasn’t oily! I was also convinced it helped reduce some of my scarring left over from spots which I wasn’t initially sure was the oil but with consistent use I am now absolutely clear that it has also worked wonders on my scars. I’ve used so many products to fade scars and nothing came even close to this! Literally almost disappeared overnight – mind blown.

It contains a number of oils such as jojoba, apricot and honeysuckle, and also contains calendula which has great antioxidant and antiseptic properties. Finally, it contains turmeric which does amazing things to skin and helps reduce inflammation.

The oil itself feels like silk. I’ve never felt such a soft facial oil before, the texture is really luxurious. I also am completely in love with the scent: it has a floral fragrance that’s very pleasant and by far my favourite out of all the oils I’ve tried before. It retails at $63 which puts it in the slightly more expensive range but honestly, it is worth every penny.

I also want to mention how cute all the packaging is! Everything is recyclable and the bamboo details are adorable. Let me know what you guys think! Have you ever tried The Organic Skincare Company? How important is it to you that beauty products are vegan and cruelty free?

Until next time xo
