I’ve had a few requests to share my favourite beauty products with you all, so I thought I might start doing this monthly because it changes ALL THE TIME. So without further ado, let’s get right into it:

Favourite Fragrance:

Well the sun has finally made an appearance, and with it my trusty Soleil Blanc. This perfume is definitely an investment at £162, but Tom Ford fragrances are always very popular even with that price tag because they’re great. This particular one is inspired by “remote private islands where summer lasts all year” and boy, does it deliver! There is nothing else in the universe that smells so much like a bottled holiday.

It also has a great lasting power which I’m always obsessive about when it comes to perfumes – I use two sprays either side of my neck and I can usually still smell it at night time. This will definitely be a staple piece in my summer collection!

Favourite Skincare:

I’ve included two products in this section because I couldn’t pick between the two. The first is the Avant Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Oxidising and Re-texturing Facial Serum. This product costs £89 for 30mls which is definitely in the higher end scale of serums, but I wrote a post a while back about which areas of a skincare routine are worth investing in and serums, in my opinion, are number one.

It claims to work for 8 hours to hydrate skin, clear texture concerns and boost the skin with anti-oxidants. This part was key for me, because I suffer with hormonal breakouts and one of the main causes behind those is sebum oxidising on the skin. Anything that is high in anti-oxidants gets a thumbs up from me!

I’ve only been using this for about a week, but I’ve been using it morning and evening and I can honestly say I’ve seen a difference. Mostly in terms of my skin feeling plump and hydrated, but it seems to also help reduce fine lines (probably the result of hydrating and plumping the skin), and has possibly also helped speed up the healing process after a breakout, clearing the redness faster. I say possibly because I’ve also introduced a new Vitamin C serum into my routine at the same time and I’m not sure which one is doing it, but they both claim to do this.

The second product is the Eve Lom Moisture Cream, which also contains hyaluronic acid and anti-oxidants (notice a pattern here?) and although this is a very pricey moisturising cream in my opinion it does feel different to many others I’ve tried. The first thing I noticed is that it absorbs very quickly and almost dries matte – no sticky, shiny film left over my face. It definitely feels hydrating, rather than moisturising. What I mean by that is that it feels like it reaches into the skin, instead of sitting on top of it, which is also a feature I really like.

It does have a thicker, more luxurious consistency so for my oily skin I was initially reluctant to use it in the day fearing it would be too creamy but as it absorbs so well this isn’t a problem. It’s definitely left my skin feeling very soft and smooth!

Favourite Lip Product

I’ve recently been gifted this lip balm by Dior Beauty and I was initially reluctant to try it because I’m SUPER picky when it comes to lip balms. I have a bad habit of picking my lip and biting it when I’m anxious or concentrating, so my lips are always dry and patchy. I absolutely hate petroleum based lip products, and all that’s worked for me in terms of really hydrating my lips has been eye cream (yeah, I know you’re judging but it works and if it’s safe enough to go around my eyes, it’s safe enough to go on my lips) and the Dr Lipp Nipple Balm.

However, I decided to give it a go and boy was I impressed! At a cost of £28 it’s definitely not a cheap lip balm, but it’s high in mango butter and synthetic beeswax making it super hydrating without the petroleum feel. I also like that it’s very versatile – it can be used under lipsticks as a primer, over lipstick to add shine, or on it’s own for a subtle hint of colour. The formula reacts with the individual’s pH to create a shade that flatters that particular person and although I cannot for the life of me understand how that works, all the products I’ve tried that do this really do work and come out in shades that suit me (and the guinea pigs I experimented on, which were obviously human not actual guinea pigs because I’m not into animal testing).

Favourite Makeup Item

I’ve been loving the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder which I use shade 01 as a bronzer. I’ve only recently got into bronzers because I never managed to apply them properly without looking like I’ve been hit in the face with an orange. I like this one because the shade looks very natural for me, exactly like my actual tan, and it has the most subtle and natural shimmer to it.

I’ve used Hoola from Benefit for some time and although I still like it, I find it a little too matte especially because most of my foundations have a matte finish, so together I feel they make me look a bit like a drawing rather than a human covered in skin. The subtle glow on the LM one works much better for me. And a little goes a long way!

Favourite Body Product

As soon as the sun comes out, my Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or comes out too. This is a gorgeous, multi tasking oil that can be used anywhere on the body or hair. It’s very hydrating, it smells delicious and it’s absolutely full of golden shimmer.

The shimmer gets everywhere, I’m not gonna lie. But I quite like that!

I usually like to use it on my legs and arms to give me a glow, especially at the start of summer when I’m not so tanned and look a bit ghostly. I also sometimes use it on the ends of my hair for some extra moisture and a glow. A little goes a long way which makes the price of this really worth it! I’ve been tempted to get the Soleil Blanc one by Tom Ford to add another dimension to my perfume but this one works so well that I just can’t really justify paying so much for another one.

So these are my May favourites! What products are you loving at the moment? Let me know in the comments section.

Until next time xo
