Due to popular demand, today’s post will be about my on-the-go makeup! For those busy mornings when you’re running late and you don’t have the time to do your makeup, all you need is the 5 products below in your bag and you’re sorted! You can use these to do your makeup on your commute, in the car or even when you arrive at your office.
So what should you have in your makeup bag for on-the-go makeup?
Foundation comes in many different forms nowadays so this means that you have more flexibility to get something that’s easy to carry and easy to apply on the go. I normally use liquid foundation when I have time to do my makeup, but I carry a foundation stick in my makeup bag for those busy days when I just don’t have the time. I currently like to use the stick foundation from Revolution – it’s very good for an incredibly affordable price!
You can now find foundation sticks from almost all beauty brands so you can use one that you like and that works for you; the idea is that it’s easy to fit in your makeup bag and it’s easy to apply. I carry this brush from Real Techniques in my makeup bag too which is what I use to blend my foundation (and blusher, once I’ve finished my foundation).
I got my hands on a mini blusher from NARS in the infamous shade Orgasm which is what I carry with me when I need to apply on the go. Once I’ve done my foundation, I use the same brush to apply my blusher – just make sure you clean the brush when you get home that day otherwise you’ll end up pink all over next time you use it!
When I don’t have space to carry a blusher or forget to bring one, I use my lipstick for this step. Dab a few dots on the apples of your cheeks and blend out with your finger or the brush. Lipsticks are very versatile and you can use them on your lips, on your cheeks, on your eyelids – wherever. Always carry one around and you can change up your look throughout the day in a matter of minutes.
This mini mascara from Benefit is one of my favourites to carry in my makeup bag. It’s got a full size brush so you still get the same great effect from the application brush but it’s the same size as a lipstick so takes up hardly any space. Again, you can find mini mascaras from many brands and most of them come with a full size brush so if you have a preferred brand, stick with what works for you.
I like to carry a pencil liner in my bag as they can be used in quite a few different ways. For my usual every day look I tend to use this on my waterline, both top and bottom. However, you can use this on your lid if you prefer as long as you have some way of smudging it into a smoky eye as pencils are not the best for winged, precise liner.
As I have dark hair, I used to use a dark brown pencil for this step as I could then use it to fill in my brows as well but since having them microbladed this isn’t something I need anymore so I use a black liner.
As I mentioned before, always carry a lipstick. If you carry nothing else in your handbag makeup-wise, always take a lipstick. I really like this mini from Bobbi Brown at the moment but any will work – whether you like bright colours or nudes. Like all the other mini products in this post, mini lipsticks are great for this too as they take up less space and are easy to carry.
You can adjust this to suit what you feel your most important makeup steps are – for example, you may not normally wear mascara but feel you can’t leave the house without filling in your brows so you could replace mascara with brow products you’d normally wear. You could also think about using a powder foundation if you prefer, and they usually have an application sponge so you wouldn’t need to carry a brush.
I normally have these products in my makeup bag at all times so if I’m in a rush I don’t have to think about what to take with me, everything is already in my bag. What’s in your makeup bag? Let me know what you think below!
